Yes! We feel so lucky to have found ourselves aligned in business and we have a base of friendship and a shared love of Jasper to thank for that.
-
Ash: Laura is a VIBE. She’s a genuine person that cares about others joy. Professionally, I’d say she’s a killer in the ambition department - I love that about her and it’s clearly a trait you want in a business partner!
Laura: Ashley's presence is like a warm hug. Her aura draws you in and keeps you in her orbit. She's also got a sassy side that's always fun to be around. She is so authentic in who she is and I've admired her for so many years as a photographer…she is such a pro. I feel honored to work with the best in the biz!
P.S. She always smells good.

Oh man, we have awesome people around us! We are so lucky to live in a place where we know and work with the people we will be hiring for your packages. We’re a tight knit crew and have major respect and admiration for each other. One of Jasper’s core values in the business community is supporting local and that is something we are so proud to bring to Jasper Park Elopements.
-
100% yes! We welcome any age, race, ability, gender identity, and sexual orientation to inquire to work with us. Inclusivity is a value that we both share and actively uphold within our business and in our personal and family lives.
-
Absolutely. We have three basic packages that provide everything you need but can be customized to suit your needs. For example, if you need two bouquets or two boutonnières, want to add extra time for an extended adventure, add a second photographer, a videographer, or even an ACMG hiking guide for a backcountry elopement.
-
A second photographer is always a worthwhile investment if it’s in your budget. More candids, angles, creative ideas, and fun will come out of this choice but it’s not absolutely necessary to have a full and complete story of your elopement. If you do decide two photographers is for you, our first choice will always be to hire Ash’s husband and business partner Brian of Kinfolk Photography. They have been working together for 10 years now and have a rhythm that is natural and co-creative. If Brian isn’t available, we have a great community of local photographers we trust to do an amazing job!

We know the area, the light, weather patterns and backups to the backups! We've perfected the art of seamless teamwork, ensuring your day is captured in all its breathtaking glory. Using another photographer? Well, that's like trying to fit a moose into a mini cooper – it might work, but it's bound to get a bit complicated! So, let's keep it local, let's keep it lively, and let's let Ashley and Laura work their magic. After all, nothing beats the combo of stunning landscapes and a dream team, right?"
-
Your elopement day should be all about the love, not about racking up those extra travel fees or wasting time wondering what happens next. By choosing Jasper Park Elopements, you're not just choosing any old planner, photographer and officiant – you're opting for the ultimate stress-free experience.
Our local expertise goes beyond knowing the best brunch spots (although we've got those recommendations, too). Ashley and Laura are like the Sherlock Holmes of Jasper Park, navigating hidden gems and secret spots with ease. They've got the lowdown on the best lighting, the coziest nooks, and the spots that'll have you saying, 'I didn't even know this existed!'
But wait, there's more! No need to worry about permits or paperwork – we've got it covered. We're like the backstage pass to Jasper Park's most exclusive locations, and we're happy to share the VIP treatment with you.
Let's keep it local for that extra touch of magic, zero travel woes, and a worry-free elopement that'll have you focused on each other, not on logistics. Because when you elope with us, it's not just a ceremony – it's an adventure!"
-
It’s what we do! With 20+ years of local photography and officiating experience, we always have plenty of great spots in mind. Did you know there’s a difference between ceremony and photo locations? We choose the best and most appropriate locations for a quiet, private and serene ceremony spot, but we can travel to more locations for photos. You will find in our process of creating your day, that we will collaborate with you to ensure we get to the spots that match your vision.
-
Our first instinct when it comes to iffy weather is to embrace it! Some of our favourite images happen during stormy skies, light rain, wind, and even smoke! We also keep a close eye on the local forecast the week leading up to your elopement. Weather in the mountains is unpredictable - one minute we can be blessed with sun and warmth, the next moment, we’re in moody territory - hence why we tend to embrace it. We are always happy to provide the option to reschedule your elopement one time, free of charge, provided we are available for the alternate date. However, 95% of the time we recommend going ahead with the plan. Check out Kinfolk’s blog post on smoky and rainy sessions to see what we mean!
-
After you sign the contract and pay your deposit, you will receive your welcome package and questionnaires. These documents will walk you through everything you need to do and will help us plan your elopement. Once we have your questionnaires back, you leave the rest to us. We’ll be busy working behind the scenes to plan the itinerary and make sure everything stays on track.

Yes, all visitors to Jasper National Park require a national park pass. Park passes can be purchased before coming to Jasper, or at the entry gates. There are options for daily or annual passes, individual and group passes. More information can be found on the Parks Canada website.

Alberta marriage licences are available from a registry agent office. They are valid for 3 months so you can go as early as 3 months before your wedding. We recommend getting your licence about a month before your wedding.
When applying for a marriage licence, both spouses must go together. You will need a valid piece of photo ID, and family information: your parents’ names and where they were born. This information can be found on your birth certificate.
The whole process takes about 20 minutes and you will walk out with your marriage licence.
A registry agent issues a 2-part document. The top part is a Registration of Marriage and the bottom part is the marriage licence. Please make sure that the bottom part is signed by the agent. If not, the marriage licence is not valid.
The full document (Registration of Marriage/Marriage Licence) must be given to me. This is a legal document and must be kept in good condition and not folded as it is permanently archived.
Please check the Alberta website for all up-to-date eligibility requirements and how to apply.
-
Anyone can get married in Alberta as long as you meet the eligibility requirements. It doesn’t matter where you are from. The marriage certificate is a legal document and should be recognized as a legal marriage in other countries. Your witnesses can also be from anywhere in the world.
-
After the wedding ceremony, I will give you an unofficial marriage certificate. This certificate can be used to change your name in Alberta only. To order an official marriage certificate from the province, you will need to apply at an Alberta registry. Download the application form and bring it to an Alberta registry after your ceremony. It’s easier to apply in person, however, it is possible to apply for it out of province. You will receive your official marriage certificate in about 3-6 weeks after applying.

In Alberta, you can keep your own last name or assume a married last name when you get married.
You can:
+ keep your last name
+ assume your spouse’s last name
+ join your and your spouse’s last names and assume this joined name.Joining a last name can be with or without a hyphen, or a space; the order of the 2 names is up to you. For example: Smith-Jones, Smith Jones, SmithJones
If you choose to assume your spouse’s last name (or create a joined last name), you should change all your ID to reflect the new last name. Contact each organization that you have an account with and ask what they require to make the change. Most organizations will want to see your government issued marriage certificate.
If you assume a married last name in Alberta, the name on your birth certificate does not change.
